This month, a new restaurant opened at the location of the old Garduño's above the Mesilla Valley Mall. We were in the area and decided to try it for lunch.
The site underwent a rather long construction period, but it was definitely worth the wait. It has moved from a Southwestern-style interior to a fairly upscale decor with two distinct sides and a mid-range section adjoining the patio. The latter part is equipped with a screen and projector. I imagine this room may be reserved for groups, though I can see the possibility of the Superbowl playing up there in a few weeks. The wait staff are friendly, with professional-looking Pecan Grill & Brewery logo tops. Apart from various sandwiches and salads, the lunch menu included some interesting sounding entrèes.
The website appears to have been tossed up until they get their full-service website up and running. It looks like it will be very nice when completed.
We ordered the following:
Pecan Grill Burger
Green Chile Steak
Chicken fingers and fries
The steak was medium-well, as ordered, and was excellent. The hamburger was almost too big. It was good, but there really isn't a whole lot one can say about a hamburger. The chicken strips were tender and tasted good. The fries were above average.
We decided to have some dessert. The crème brûlée was delicious. There are several types of their own micro-brews available, as well as a pretty good selection of beers and wines.Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience, but a little pricey for lunch. I will definitely be trying this place for dinner. It is a good addition to the Las Cruces dining scene.
Another recent visit, we ordered Green Chili Stew and Salmon on a Plank. They were equally good.
