There are two locations for the Great American Land & Cattle Company. One is at 600 Valley Chili Rd, Vinton and the other at 1345 George Dieter, El Paso. We were returning from El Paso to Las Cruces, so we stopped at the Vinton location (I had always wanted to try it). Though we visited on a Saturday evening, we were able to get a table immediately. The interior is a bit dark, and the decor screams Texas. The wood walls made it rather dark. So bring your reading glasses.

On entering, I had noticed a small stage at the far end of the dining room. The service was a bit slow, (I got the impression they were a little shorthanded), but the atmosphere was good. They had a decent selection of wines, and a good selection of beers. The bar area was separate from the dining area, so we didn't have to listen to the game. It turned out that there is a singer on Friday and Saturday nights. He had a great voice, and interacted with the diners in an entertaining and comfortable way. On the way out, I saw the sign announcing Jack Welch. I assumed that was the singer. Or it could have been that the former CEO of General Electric was dropping in for a visit. Who knows?

Aside from sandwiches, our orders included baby back ribs, a 16 oz. T-bone (medium rare), and a kebab (medium). The meat took a while, but came out great. I thought the T-bone was as good as any I've ever had (my own included), and the kebab was a much bigger portion than one would think. The entrées come with cole slaw and ranch style beans in bowls, along with a side for each individual. The service is friendly, and this is an inviting restaurant for any size group.
