Day 6 - PMRF Barking Sands, Russian Fort Elizabeth

Date: 2009-03-04
Location: Hawaii 09

First we spent most of the morning walking on PMRF Barking Sands Beach. The long strench of sandy beach gave us a good view of Nihoa. The waves were huge and there were so brave surfers diving in and out of the water. The little guy spent a lot of time digging in the sand and made a fortress out of it.

At lunch time, we stopped by the Shrimp Station and ate some tasty large jumbo shrimp with rice. The little stand was pretty popular and we found the only bench that was unoccupied.

On the way back, we stopped by Ft Elizabeth and walked around its fallen wall and its parameter. We also walked along the black sandy beach. At one point, the little guy find a vertebra of a horse and we had went back and identified the bone.

When we got back, we went to the Poipu Shopping Center. At the Poipu Fine Art Gallery, we both fell in love with this beautiful sunset painting by Walfrido. It was called the "The Color of Memories". We brought a copy of it and had them shipped to our address back home. It would be a nice addition to our house.
